2020 Audi A3 vs. 2020 Jaguar XE
The 2020 Audi A3 is a solid pick among the small luxury sedan segment as this particular Audi is for the past years. It boasts of style, performance, and technology without sacrificing comfort. The A3 is definitely worth it as it surpasses its rivals in a lot of ways.
The 2020 Jaguar XE, on the other hand, is not much of a big seller but there have been a few updates that make it appealing somehow. Will the recent changes enough to warrant a purchase? Find out at this quick comparison against the A3.
Design & Style
If you are after a premium-looking vehicle, then you cannot go wrong with the new A3. It looks very expensive from the outside with its angular LED lights that is framing the huge grille. The cabin styling follows a minimalistic approach that only made it look more upscale than it already is.
For the XE, both the exterior and interior design details get an update. It looks bigger because of the new front and back fascias. There are new details but it held on to its familiar look with the long nose and short deck. The interior may also look current but it lacks a note of luxury with the hard plastic materials. It seems to go for a vintage vibe but the style combinations are not working positively.
Technology & Safety
Innovations on the A3 are plenty, as always, and all of the infotainment features are pleasing. The pop-up display is simply sophisticated and useful at the same time. There is also a horde of optional features that are very satisfying, such as the 4G LTE-powered Wi-Fi hotspot and the 14-speaker 705-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Although most of the technologies on the XE work well, it sometimes gets clunky and confusing to work with. What makes it a little attractive is its bumper-to-bumper service plan that includes all of the tech features. Other than that, you get stuck with a little less than impressive set of infotainment gadgetry.
Performance
The A3 comes in either a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations and both are powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. The seven-speed dual clutch AT comes in either 184 or 228-hp engine. You basically have a choice on how much power you need for your driving style. What is clear is that you get to drive an agile and responsive car either way.
The turbocharged engine of the XE may be rated at either 247-hp or 296-hp but it does not meet the usual acceleration that you usually get on these numbers. It is stable and well-balanced but the grip and everything else are not outstanding.
The Bottom Line
Between the 2020 Audi A3 and the 2020 Jaguar XE, the A3 offers both poise and optimum performance. The XE simply does not compare much even with its recent updates for this model year.
