2020 Audi A4 vs. 2020 Volkswagen Arteon

A fresh look and new technologies highlight the arrival of the 2020 Audi A4. This nice-driving and well-equipped luxury sedan proves just how dept Audi is at producing drool-worthy rides. The A4 is a solid choice with its distinctive and delightful mix of luxury, technology, and performance.

As the flagship of the brand’s sedan lineup, the 2020 Volkswagen Arteon is a bold and stylish vehicle that is fit for those who shun crossover SUVs. It is inspired by the practical Passat model but is leaning towards having a unique driving experience.

Design & Style

A4 is unarguably one of the best-selling luxury sedans and among its long list of impressive features is the impeccable styling with every model year. The 2020 version is visually refreshed with its new front and rear bumpers. The grille, wheels, and lighting elements likewise received tweaking and now sports new designs. The interior is clean and simple but is equipped with easily accessible gadgetry.

Unlike the A4 with a balanced form and function both inside and out, the Arteon focused on having an intricately-designed exterior. Yes, it looks stylish outside but the interior is a major letdown. The cabin looks very generic, more like a Passat, and does not look expensive.

Technology & Safety

The A4 is graced with a generous set of tech features. The latest MMI touch infotainment system delivers superior-quality graphics and works seamlessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. It also exceptionally rated well for its safety and driver-assistance features.

Aside from the boring cabin, the Arteon also has merely average tech. The standard sound system is particularly unimpressive. Even the safety features are either a hit or a miss and it is odd that the lane-keeping assist features is only available on the most expensive trim.

Performance

The A4 comes in either a fuel-efficient 188-hp engine or a 248-hp that is more powerful. Both configurations work splendidly. The power delivery is smooth and steering is ultra smooth.

All four trims of the Arteon is powered by a 268-hp engine. Although it sounds powerful enough, real performance is not as potent as one would expect it to be. The steering is nicely weighted but the transmission shifts tend to be slow.

The Bottom Line

If you have the money to spend on a 2020 Volkswagen Arteon, it is highly recommended to get the 2020 Audi A4 instead. The A4 is fully luxurious and offers more driving excitement compared to the Arteon. All the features of the A4 are more refined plus the interior is a winner with the comfortable and nicely-crafted cabin. The Arteon is disappointing when it comes to both the tech features and interior styling.
