2020 Audi A8 vs. 2020 BMW 7-Series
It can be challenging to impress anyone with a large car. Unless one is specifically looking for one, the car should have more than the essentials to make it interesting. Luckily, the 2020 Audi A8 has everything that makes a large luxury sedan as appealing as it can be. Another big car that is loaded with features is the 2020 BMW 7-Series. More than looking obnoxious for their size, here is a comparison to see why these vehicles are able to balance luxury and technology and still able to offer an ultra-comfortable ride.
Design & Style
Anyone looking forward to impress with a large vehicle should seriously consider the new A8. The elite luxury quality clearly shows on the all-business aesthetics of the A8. The grille is lowered and has intricately-detailed headlights. The taillights, on the other hand, are wide and give a distinct signature whenever they light up. Hard buttons and knobs are almost non-existent, making the cabin look clean and modern.
The 7-Series is notorious for having one of the biggest grilles. This year, the giant front grille is given a new look with slimmer headlights. Although it gave the illusion of a taller and blunter front end, the effect made the 7-Series look less elegant. Thankfully, the cabin is beautiful, making up for the lousy exterior.
Technology & Safety
The lavish cabin is also entertaining with the cutting-edge tech features on the A8. Two entertainment tablets control most of the functions. It is so easy to navigate though the touch screen controls since the system is quick to respond. Standard connectivity includes both the new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with the addition of Amazon ALexa.
Although the tech and driver aids are ok, there are only subtle additions for the 7-Series’ infotainment. The gauge cluster is new and boasts of sharp graphics and data screens that can be customized.
Performance
The new A8 comes with a mild hybrid V-6 engine that is rated to have 335 hp. There is also a twin-turbo V-8 with up to 453 hp. The power delivery for both engines is smooth and delivers the same blend of athleticism that is present among other Audi vehicles. It has a precise steering and advanced active suspension which makes every ride as comfortable as it can be.
The V-8 engine of the new 7-Series has been upgraded to deliver up to 523 hp. It is, however, too obvious that its agility is lessened especially in terms of handling.
The Bottom Line
If you are to choose between the 2020 Audi A8 and the 2020 BMW 7-Series, it would be best to pick the A8. Audi perfectly blended all the good qualities that one needs in a big luxury vehicle. The 7-Series is fine but there are plenty of sacrifices that were made to accommodate its size.
