2021 Audi R8 vs. 2021 Chevrolet Corvette

The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette is a spectacular super car, with insane acceleration, state of the art interior and lots of protective features. But is this enough to beat the 2021 Audi R8, a V-10 powered vehicle with earth shattering speed, a magnificent appearance and an exquisite cabin?

Design & Style

The Audi R8 can be purchased as a roadster or coupe and seats two passengers in style. It has razor sharp edges with blades along the sides and cool looking air intakes. A trapezoidal style grille can be seen in front, with a stance that is low and wide as is typical of performance vehicles. It has a near futuristic look with construction that incorporates high end carbon fiber and aluminum, giving it a superb weight balance.

The newest Corvette is more flared and creased than previous editions. The extended hood has been phased out in favor of a shortened nose with a prominent rear. Pronounced air intakes can be seen below with an interior that is lined in leather. The seats are snug and power adjustable and passengers will receive their infotainment from high resolution eight inch touch displays.

Technology & Safety

The Chevrolet Corvette lacks most standardized safety features, especially automated emergency brakes. Its safety functions are limited to blind area monitoring, a camera for the rearview, and automatic reminders to buckle seatbelts. Luxuries within its cabin include a Bose sound system with ten speakers, remote start, satellite radio, cooled/heated seats and Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

The Audi R8 also lacks emergency automated brakes. However, it does have parking sensors for the rear and front, magnetic dampers, carbon ceramic brakes, summer tires and navigation systems. Luxuries within its cabin include powered seats that can be heated or cooled and adjusted eighteen ways, climate control and leather upholstery.

Performance

Those that purchase the Audi R8 V10 Performance will get an engine that can generate 602 horsepower that enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in 3.3 seconds, with a 204 mile per hour top speed. It uses a dual clutch, seven speed automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Corvette is powered by a V8, 6.2 liter engine that can generate 490 horsepower with 465 pounds of torque that enable it to accelerate from zero to sixty in about 3 seconds, with a 194 mile per hour top speed.

The Bottom Line

While the 0 to 60 acceleration times for both cars is about the same, the Audi R8 has superior top speed, and the Corvette’s poor rear and side vision, lack of a manual transmission and miniscule cargo space makes Audi the winner.
