2021 Audi TT vs. 2021 BMW 2-Series
The 2021 BMW 2-Series has received acclaim for its excellent turbo engine, premium feel and track ready performance. But is it good enough to beat the 2021 Audi TT, a remarkable car with a driver centric cabin, exceptional agility and cutting edge safety and luxury features?
Design & Style
The Audi TT can be purchased in the form of a roadster or coupe with all-wheel drive. Both look great, as the car has an angular front and back with a roundish center. It comes with eighteen inch wheels but those who upgrade can get twenty inches with summer tires. It carries four passengers in seats that provide maximum comfort and the cabin includes a digitized instrument cluster with a touch display.
The BMW 2-Series can be purchased in the form of a convertible or coupe. It has a sporty exterior with a swoopy style roofline and larger intakes than previous editions. The interior is covered in upmarket materials like leather, polished aluminum trim and natural wood. The seats are fun and relaxing to sit in, even when traveling long distances.
Technology & Safety
The BMW 2-Series is designed to prevent collisions before they occur. It accomplishes this through automated emergency brakes, multiple airbags, and lane and cruise control. However, its headlights are subpar and this is one of the reasons why it did not win the Top Safety Pick award. Luxuries within its cabin include a sunroof, climate control, powered seats and premium audio from Harmon Kardon.
The Audi TT comes with most of the safety features found in the BMW 2-Series, including emergency brakes, blind area monitoring and parking assistance for the front and rear. Luxuries within the cabin include heated and powered seats covered in nappa leather, an audio system from Bang & Olufsen, and climate control.
Performance
Those that purchase the Audi TT RS will get a turbo 5, 2.5 liter engine that can generate 394 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in about 3.6 seconds. It has a dual clutch, seven speed transmission with magnetic dampers that provide an exceptionally smooth riding experience even when making sharp turns. Those that purchase the BMW M2 Competition will get a straight six engine that can generate 405 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in just under 4 seconds.
The Bottom Line
Though both cars are essentially tied when it comes to performance, the BMW 2-Series has subpar headlights which is a major issue as this potentially endangers drivers who rely on them when driving down dark roads, and this combined with its lackluster back seat makes the Audi TT the winner.
