2022 Audi Q7 vs. 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class
Purchasing a three-row SUV is a major expenditure that requires you to weigh your options carefully. When you think about luxury SUVs, what first come to mind are probably prestige brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. While all three brands have their own lines of three-row SUVs, we are going to compare the 2022 Audi Q7 with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. While the GLS-Class comes at an exorbitant price when compared to the Q7, it does not mean that it is superior in the luxury it provides.
Design & Style
Both the Q7 and GLS-Class are three-row SUVs. While the GLS-Class is much pricier than the Q7, the Q7 is much better equipped and designed both internally and externally.
The Q7 comes standard with real leather upholstery to enhance the deluxe value of having a luxury SUV, but the GLS-Class comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery. Besides, the Q7 also allows occupants to customize the climate in three zones of the SUV. In contrast, occupants of the GLS-Class can only do so in two zones of the SUV. To acquire the same features provided by the Q7, you will have to pay for an upgrade.
Externally, the Q7 has unique turn indicators that light up dynamically in an animated fashion. This flashy style adds on to the Q7’s sporty image, which is not found on the GLS-Class.
Technology & Safety
Safety is one of the top-most concerns when buying a car. While both the Q7 and GLS-Class have the most updated safety technology, like crash warning, front and rear parking sensors, and emergency brakes, the Q7 still outshines the GLS-Class. The Q7 provides warnings when you drive out of lane and also monitors the road for traffic signs. While you can upgrade the GLS-Class to get the former feature, you cannot find the latter feature on the GLS-Class.
Performance
Both the Q7 and GLS-Class have four-wheel drive, which increases traction and grip, making them suitable in poor weather conditions. Judging by the horsepower, the Q7 does not produce horsepower as high as does the GLS-Class, but at 248 hp, it still provides the occupants with plenty of power when driving. Furthermore, since the Q7 is much lighter than the GLS-Class, it is faster to accelerate on.
The Bottom Line
With a much lower price than the GLS-Class, the Q7 provides much more value and deluxe features that come standard. This goes to show that more expensive SUVs do not necessarily translate to better value. As such, purchasing the Q7 is clearly the wiser decision.
