2022 Audi TT vs. 2022 BMW Z4

The 2022 BMW Z4 is a fabulous convertible with swagger, formidable acceleration and relaxing seats. But is it good enough to beat the 2022 Audi TT, an agile car with turbo 4 speed, a driver centric interior and the latest safety and infotainment tech?

Design & Style

The newest Audi TT has been further refined with the addition of magnetic dampers that provide a riding experience which is even more balanced with crisp handling. It can be purchased in the form of a roadster or coupe, with a cockpit that is rich in digital gauges. Passengers will sit on nappa leather style upholstery and though it technically has backseats, the ones in front get all the attention.

The newest BMW Z4 is a two seater that is lacking certain features like touch input, wifi, ambient lighting and even wireless charging for smartphones due to the international chip shortage. While this is understandable, it could hurt sales and inhibit its ability to compete with the Audi, a car that has many of the features it lacks. However, the BMW Z4 is still an attractive car that provides an outstanding riding experience nonetheless.

Technology & Safety

Though the BMW Z4 is rich in safety countermeasures, it hasn’t yet been tested or rated by the IIHS or the NHTSA. However, the brand has an excellent safety record in general, and passengers will be protected by features such as blind area monitoring, parking sensors, lane departure notifications and automated emergency brakes. Luxuries within its cabin include voice command, ten inch touch displays, the option of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and powered seats that can be adjusted fourteen ways.

The Audi TT is equipped with most of the features found in the BMW Z4, including parking sensors, blind area monitoring and airbags. Luxuries within its cabin include heated/cooled seats, a sound system from Bang & Olufsen, digitized gauge cluster, and navigation system.

Performance

Those that purchase the Audi TT will get a turbo 4 engine that can generate 228 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from zero to sixty in just 4.4 seconds while obtaining a maximum 155 mph top speed. Those that purchase the BMW Z4 will get a turbo 4, 2 liter engine that can generate 255 horsepower that can accelerate from zero to sixty in 5.2 seconds.

The Bottom Line

While the BMW Z4 has greater horsepower, the Audi TT has better acceleration times, and given the fact that the BMW Z4 sometimes has inconsistent steering and is devoid of basic features such as touchscreens and other things due to current worldwide chip shortages, the Audi TT is the better buy.
